helped pioneer banking in Jackson County when it opened it's
doors as the Martha State Bank on Oct. 10, 1909. The original
Articles of Incorporation included pioneer names of J.A. Henry,
S.L. Doughty, James Sheridan, S.H. Starkey, B.M. Wooldridge,
H.C. Doughty and Horace Doughty |

Oct.10, 1959, the Martha State Bank changed it's name to The
First State Bank Of Altus and moved to it's current
location in Altus. At that time, local stockholders included:
W.J. Ivester, Ed Cleveland, Carroll Spangler, Levi Beach, Temple
Bailey, Dr. Wayne Starkey, Clark McWhorter, Lee Fryes, Dr. W.D.
Holt, Elmo Smith, Curtis Hawkins, J.A. Henry, Kenneth Doughty,
Nelson Doughty, Harold Doughty and Horace C. Doughty. |
